The challenge for a business like this is not demand. The challenge is production. How do you fulfil uniquely personalised, small-batch orders quickly, affordably, and without compromising quality — especially on an island where local production infrastructure is limited and importing customised goods is slow and costly?

Running a personalisation business on an island presents a very specific set of production constraints. Importing finished products is slow and expensive. Outsourcing custom work to mainland suppliers defeats the purpose — personalisation requires responsiveness, and responsiveness requires local production capability.

At the same time, the market Arulaser serves is highly seasonal and event-driven. Christmas ornaments, Valentine's Day gifts, Aruba's famous carnival celebrations, sporting events, school awards — demand spikes hard, and it spikes fast. The ability to produce small quantities of highly customised items quickly is not a nice-to-have. It is the business model.

What Arulaser needed was a printing solution that could handle a wide range of substrates — acrylic, glass, drinkware, wood, plastic — without requiring a separate machine for each material, and without demanding long production runs to be economically viable.

The artisJet and Arulaser relationship began in late 2024. After an initial connection, both teams met in person at ISA Expo 2025 — one of the most significant trade shows in the sign, graphics, and visual communications industry.

At the show, Mark and the Arulaser team did not make a quick decision. They compared multiple printing solutions side by side, reviewed live demonstrations, and requested sample prints on their own materials. It was a thorough, hands-on evaluation — exactly the kind of process that leads to a decision you can stand behind.

With the artisJet TRUST operational, Arulaser expanded its product range significantly. The system's ability to print directly onto a wide variety of substrates — without custom jigs for every new product type — made it possible to accept a much broader range of customer requests profitably and on short notice.

After seeing a live demonstration of artisJet's latest flexible raised logo solution printed with soft ink — a technique that creates tactile, premium-feel prints on leather and leatherette surfaces — Mark immediately began exploring a new product category for Arulaser's portfolio.

Leatherette patches. Customised leather accessories. A market that Arulaser had never served before, now suddenly within reach — not because they went looking for it, but because the technology showed them it was possible.

Arulaser is now actively considering a dedicated artisJet system for soft ink applications, focused specifically on leatherette patches and customised leather products. This would make them one of the very few businesses in Aruba capable of producing this category locally and on-demand.

Additionally, with demand growing steadily across all existing product lines, the team is evaluating a second artisJet printer to scale production capacity and meet rising order volumes without compromising on turnaround times.
